Dr. Peter Silverstone

Peter Silverstone is a physician, neuroscientist, entrepreneur, and author. Currently, he is focused on designing and implementing new solutions to prevent and treat mental health disorders.

 

He has an extensive research and clinical track-record with over 140 peer-reviewed publications, multiple grants, and is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Alberta.

He has put in place large scale programs in schools, has worked and researched treatments for trauma and improving self-esteem, and has recently launched a new initiative during the Coronavirus crisis. More information about him is at www.shrinkwrapped.ca

Teenager Support Program 

Hannah Pazderka

Dr. Hannah Pazderka obtained her PhD in Neuroscience over 15 years ago and has worked for many years in the area of child psychiatry and school-based programs. She has been a lead researcher at CASA (a leading child and youth psychiatry centre in Edmonton, Alberta) and more recently has been involved in studying the impact of the Fort McMurray fire on youth.

 

She has also had significant experience in developing programs to help children and youth following trauma, including child sexual abuse.

 

Over the past 2-years she has developed a novel program to support traumatized youth and will be utilizing this expertise in the programs she helps run at COMHS. 

Parent Support Program

Krystal Davidson

Working in the area of mental health for over 15 years, and for the past 5 years have primarily focused on the needs of families, running treatment programs and groups for children, youth, and parents.

 

I have a Social Work background, and have taken on increasing leadership roles within mental health programs.

 

I am delighted to be able to volunteer my time to support the COHMS initiative.

Technical Director

Matthew Brown

Dr. Matthew Brown has a long history of being at the leading edge of both computing and psychiatry, having worked in the area of Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Brain Imaging, Statistics, and Psychiatry.

 

He is a highly respected researcher, is an Adjunct Professor with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Alberta, and has many peer-reviewed publications in highly respected journals including Nature.

 

He is leading the technical side of COMHS.

Dyan Eybergen

Dyan Eybergen is a Registered Nurse/Behavioural Health Consultant with the Edmonton Southside Primary Care Network. 

 

As a certified Parent Coach from the Academy of Parent Coaching International and a trained mindfulness and meditation teacher, Dyan’s passion is helping parents and kids to effectively manage life’s challenges through evidence-based practices. She is also an award-winning author of a Parenting book: Out of the Mouths of Babes: Parenting from a Child's Perspective.

 

Dyan makes regular appearances on CTV Edmonton Morning Live as a behavioural consultant and parenting expert.

Sanjay Maharaj

Sanjay Maharaj is a Registered Nurse who has worked in the area of mental health since 2003.  With the goal of supporting the mental health of Albertans, his experience ranges across a variety of non-clinical, clinical, and academic teaching roles. 

 

Currently, Sanjay is employed at the Edmonton Southside Primary Care Network as a Behavioural Health Consultant, where he works with the multidisciplinary team to  provide front line support to patients and their families in the medical home. 

 

Sanjay is excited to support both the COMHS team and community during this time of need.

Luc Therrien

Luc Therrien is a Registered Nurse with a Master's degree in Nursing. He has worked most of his clinical career in Mental Health.

 

Currently working as a Behavioural Health Consultant with the Edmonton Southside Primary Care Network, he sees patients who want to bring change to the emotional and physical aspects of their lives. He has lead many different psycho-educational groups including Relaxation and Emotional Regulation.

 

He leads seniors into guided imagery in English through the Seniors Centre Without Walls and in French with ConnectAiné.
